Ali is a Turkey-based. Having knowledge in areas ranging through machine learning, time series analysis, and natural language processing (NLP). This, merged with the love of data and eagerness to help people, makes him a perfect fit at Arqaam.

Researcher and Policy Writer

Anna is a Berlin-based independent researcher and academic focusing on critical theory, race critical theories, gender and sexuality, cultural theory, settler /colonial theories and psychoanalysis. She works as a lay-judge in Berlin and she still carries her dog Toni everywhere in hear heart. She strongly believes in not eating animals and believes that education and radical politics of emancipation are a way to improve this world.

She speaks German, English, French, and broken Arabic.

Katrina is the Lesotho-based M&E and Gender Expert. She founded Arqaam to make a difference in how businesses are run in an ethical way. She strongly believes in making informed decisions based on evidence and how we can harness technology and machine learning to create a positive impact in the world. Katrina strongly believes that we need to fight for a socially just world.

She speaks German and English.

Anna is determined to use data for better-decision making and reducing inequalities. She worked with INGOs before and conducted independent research in various countries.

Researcher and Analyst

Annika is a cultural anthropologist and researcher based in Boston and Istanbul. She believes that social change can come through offering critical analysis and creating emancipatory political, social and cultural initiatives. Having worked in social circus projects from Afghanistan to Thailand, she believes that making knowledge accessible is a creative endeavor that necessitates understanding a multiplicity of perspectives.

She speaks German, Persian and English.

Gender & Civil Society Expert

Barbra has been working for over 15 years in the nonprofit sector in Brazil. She lives between Italy, Barcelona and Rio de Janeiro where she is a director at a local women-lead organization that fights systemic racism and violence through cultural and educational projects. Barbra is a storyteller, an artist, a designer, a trans-activist and a thinker and believes the future is queer.

She speaks English, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and French.

Clara is a Leipzig-based social scientist with a background in communication and media studies and first experience in practice-oriented sustainability research. Due to her interest in the interdependencies between people, places and the environment, she is pursuing a master’s degree in human geography. She is passionate about rural development – in Germany as well as in the Global South. Thinking gender and sustainability together is an approach Clara wants to focus on.

Kinza is a self-motivated and success driven Independent Consultant based in Pakistan. She has a wealth of international industry experience in the private and public sector, on a wide range of climate change, human rights and environmental projects. She’s passionate about helping cities, organisations and communities transition towards a low-carbon, gender inclusive and circular economy. Her key areas of work and interests include helping organisations accelerate sustainable finance, energy transition and achieve net zero emission targets. She’s vegan for the planet and thrives to be a driver for change.

Micaela is an Ecuadorian political scientist, living in Berlin. She is focused on researching social inequalities, especially those related with gender, climate justice and rural development in countries of the Global South. She is finishing a Masters in Latin American Studies, a region she is passionate about. Micaela believes that an intersectional-decolonial approach to development projects is crucial for sustainable social change.

She speaks Spanish, German, English and basic Portuguese.

Myriam is a French social science researcher and project manager based in Germany. Her objective is to contribute to the design and implementation of programmes with a positive social impact, in and outside of Europe. To do so, she uses management and evaluation methods that empower the targeted populations, by ensuring they have ownership over programme & project outcomes.

Paniz is a Leipzig-based independent feminist researcher and consultant in the field of gender, migration and labour (geo)politics. She is passionate about centre-staging marginalised knowledges through decolonising practices and learning transnationally from and with activists and communal stakeholders about sensible and sustainable ways to foster social transformation.

She speaks Farsi, German and English.

Purity is a Kenya-based Sociologist and Psychologist. She has conducted M&E in many African countries – making her a guru in the logframe world. She can accurately discern concepts and situations – either in an under-the-tree-meeting with an African Chief or wading through floods to visit project beneficiaries.

Critical thinker, social media teacher, VJ

Nour is a critical thinker, social media teacher and video jokey for Arqaam. They are best known for their media work in the Decolonise This!-Series, where they host short video essays around colonialism and decolonisation. Nour enjoys presenting their favourite thinkers around issues of race, gender, philosophy and ethics for Arqaam and hopes to contribute to global conversations around current “state of affairs” in the international humanitarian and development world.

JUNIOR MONITORING & EVALUATION EXPERT

Arqaam provides contextually informed and ethical monitoring and evaluation services. To support humanitarian and development actors carry out impactful projects.

We are a social enterprise made up of a diverse team of M&E expert consultants, data scientists, programmers and humanitarian-minded communicators who help relevant stakeholders apply best fits to assessing complex international projects and contexts through better use of data.

We are seeking a candidate with 0.5 to 3 years of work experience, including internships, to support our team in the following tasks, which can be further refined based on the interests and profile of the chosen individual:

Proposal Development

  • Learn and support the review of potential future projects
  • Learn how to and support/write consultancy proposals

Logframe Lab

  • Support the progress of Logframe Lab
  • Learn about indicators and improve the database behind the application

Projects

  • Learn about monitoring and evaluations
  • Spport ongoing projects where required

Your profile*

  • A Bachelor’s degree or additional work experience
  • Have an interest in Monitoring and Evaluation and/or Data Science
  • Access to stable internet and a laptop/computer
  • Fluent in English (any other language skills are very welcome)
