Using Data Responsibly

Print

The United States Agency for International Development has released a guide for helping organizations responsibly collect and use data, which you can access here: https://www.usaid.gov/sites/default/files/documents/15396/USAID-UsingDataResponsibly.pdf

This guide will help your organization consider the data policy and planning aspects of your project before you get started. The guide also provides numerous workbooks and toolkits for your organization to work through to ensure that the data you are collecting is necessary and properly stored. Further, if you are collecting data within the EU, you should review The General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679, which is a regulation in EU law on data protection and privacy for all individuals citizens of the European Union and the European Economic Area. You can review here: https://gdpr.eu/

Reviewing the USAID guide and the EU GDPR requirements can lead to great conversations with your team before you get started.
